Margaret (Bender) Marshall


Margaret Bender Marshall, age 98 of Baraboo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo. Margaret, the daughter of Morton and Mary (Warner) James, was born on June 1, 1916 in Almont, North Dakota. After moving to Wisconsin with her family, Margaret attended the Shady Lawn School between Baraboo and North Freedom. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Bender on July 12, 1933 in Baraboo. After raising three children and 54 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on July 24, 1987. She was later married to Donald G. Marshall on April 26, 1993 in Baraboo. Margaret was employed as a bobbin winder at Industrial Coils for 23 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo and belonged to the church's Circle 3. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Margaret enjoyed walking, playing cards and board games. She is survived by, her husband, Donald G. Marshall of Baraboo; her daughter-in-law, Rajean Bender of Baraboo; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by two sister-in-laws, Evelyn Marshall of Reedsburg, and Hope Marshall of Fort Worth, TX; as well as nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.In addition to her first husband, Robert Bender, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Bonnie (Jack) Sprowls and Jerroldynn (Don) Kinnick; son, Donald; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four sisters, Hazel (Tom) Olson, Lottie (Frank) Gonzagowski, Edith (Ralph) Bloss, Lillian (Gordon) Hengstler; and two brothers, Charles James and John (Viola) James.Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church with George Burgess and Marianne Cotter co-officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
