Gladys M. Vlcek, age 89, of Baraboo, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo. She was born November 8, 1924 in Utica, Nebraska to the late William J. and Myrtle (Roden) Geiger. Gladys graduated from the Utica, Nebraska high school in 1942 and went to vocational school in Lincoln, Nebraska. Upon graduation she went to work at the Lincoln, Nebraska air force base. Later she worked for the Prudential Insurance Co. after her marriage to Norman Vlcek on February 12, 1949.She is survived by her husband, Norman F. Vlcek of Baraboo; son, Mark (Joan Kropp) Vlcek of West Baraboo; daughters, Roxanne Vlcek of Bradenton, Florida; and Gail (Tessio) Rebello of Potomac, Maryland; 5 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Leila Geiger and Maxine ("Bud") Dumpert; and brother, Larry Geiger, all of Nebraska.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 310 2nd St. in Baraboo, Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave in Baraboo, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial will take place in Utica, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Parish or school.The family of Gladys wants to thank Oak Park Place for the great care of Gladys over the last year and half.
