Dolores Steinhorst, age 84, of Baraboo passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Meadow Ridge Assisted Living in Baraboo. The daughter of Ewald and Elizabeth (Henke) Gurgel was born March 16, 1930 in Reedsburg. Dolores was united in marriage to Henry A. Steinhorst on August 30, 1952 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo; he preceded her in death on July 3, 1998. Dolores worked for many years as a cook for St. John's Lutheran School and also UW Baraboo. She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo, and a loyal member of Ladies Division D. She enjoyed regularly attending her kids' sporting events. Some of her other passions were gardening, being outdoors, and the Brewers. She will be remembered by her family for being a great baker. Dolores is survived by her four children, Robert (Ruth) Steinhorst of West Baraboo, John (Marcia) Steinhorst of West Baraboo, Tom (Linda) Steinhorst of Baraboo, and Jolene (Don) Conley of Madison; eight grandchildren, Genesis, Kelsey, Bradley, Dustin, and Kayla Steinhorst, Bridget and Hannah Conley, and Joshua Krayer; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Joachim and Marion Powers; and one brother, Martin Gurgel all of Baraboo; as well as many other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry; two brothers; and three sisters.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Redlin Funeral Home with Pastor Ervine Vomhoff officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.
