Roger R. Ystad


Roger Ystad, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends. Roger was born on January 10, 1940 to Ralph and Elenor (Olson) Ystad. Roger dedicated his working career to Wisconsin Power and Light. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, who truly appreciated wildlife. He loved playing cards with his buddies. Roger will be remembered as a strong member of the community. He was a longtime member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited; and had a passion for teaching Hunter Safety Course.He is survived by his two daughters, Lori and Lisa Ystad; three grandchildren, Alicia (Joe) Challoner, Jenny Ferkey, and Nicholas Ystad; as well as five great grandchildren, Destini, Justus, Jade, Phoenix, and Sofia. Survivors also include his brother, Neil Ystad; and sister, Gwen Trebe. His family would like to thank Colleen Nist and her children, Aaron, Tracy, Jason, Kendra, Megan, and Kelsey for their many years of love and companionship; and his "Little Buddy" Mark.Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elenor; his brother, Ron Ystad; and his loving wife of 18 years, Nancy Young Ystad. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00pm (Noon), Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Baraboo with Pastor Jonathon Tipton officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of service, at the church. Further Celebration of Roger's life will take place at 1:00pm at Chaser's Bar and Grill, following the service.
