Edwin C. Sauey


Edwin C. Sauey, aged 88, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, passed away on April 2, 2014, at St. Clare Hospice House. Ed was born on September 3, 1925, in Lavik, Norway, to Mathilda and Ole Sauey. He grew up on a farm in Kennan, Wisconsin, with four sisters and four brothers. He served with the U.S. Army in France during WWII. After leaving the military, he and his brothers co-founded Flambeau Plastics in Bruce, Wisconsin. He met Myrle Swanson in Prentice, Wisconsin, and they married in 1947. Together they raised three children: Dennis, Wayne and Jeanne. The family moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin, in 1949, preceding Flambeau Plastics move to Baraboo in 1950. Ed later co-founded Norse Leasing Corporation and served as its President and also served as the President of Humane Manufacturing.Ed was an honest, generous and hard-working man who took pleasure in helping others in need. He enjoyed traveling with his family, golfing, bowling and annual fishing trips to Canada. Ed enjoyed the English language and was a stickler for the use of proper grammar. He had a keen sense of humor and brought laughter and joy to all around him.Ed is survived by Myrle Sauey of Baraboo, Wisconsin, his son, Dennis (Judy) of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, daughter Jeanne (Dennis) Drescher of Glendale, Arizona, daughter-in-law Maryjude Hoeffel of St. Joseph, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Elissa, Jennifer, Stephanie and Brandon; two step-grandchildren: Aaron and Jana; nine great-grandchildren: Savannah, Sydney, Madison, Meghan, Nathan, Noah, Jaiden, Johanna and Teresa; two step-grandchildren: Ethan and Andrew; three brothers: William, Lawrence and Robert; one brother-in law: Kenneth Rieck; a sister-in law, Grace Uebersetzig; many nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver, Jan Partanen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Wayne, his sisters: Annette, Clara, Margaret and Delores and one brother, Norman.There will be a visitation held at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Avenue, Baraboo, Wisconsin, on Sunday- April 6, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a memorial service following at 12:30 pm. There will be a celebration of Ed's life at the Baraboo Country Club, 401 Mine Street, Baraboo, Wisconsin, after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ed's name may be sent to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 8455, Madison, WI 53708-8455 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
