Dorothy "Dot" Brownell


Dot Brownell, 67, of Baraboo passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at St Clare Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Dot was born August 4, 1946 in Lima, Ohio to Owen and Margaret (Dalton) Michael. Dot worked as an LPN at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo for many years, Maplewood Care Center in Sauk City, Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells, and St Clare Hospice House in Baraboo.She loved spending time with family and friends and attending family events and functions at Devil's Lake State Park. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, attending her grandson's football games, and Facebook. Dots personality and sense of humor drew people to her.Dot is survived by her two children, Randy (Melissa Hachtel) Spaude and Cindy Spaude of Baraboo; first husband, Gerald Spaude of Eland; two stepchildren, Bobby Brownell and Becky Rachuj of Baraboo; three sisters, June Gruber, Sheila (George) Cook, Donna Lynne Kamenick all of Baraboo; one brother, William (Donna Kay) of Wisconsin Dells; two grandchildren, Brittany Spaude and Jacob Kimpfbeck of Baraboo; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Spaude of Baraboo; and many other nieces, nephews, friends, and family.She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Richard "Dick" Brownell; and brother-in-law, Fred Gruber. Memorial Services will be held at Redlin Funeral Home, Friday, March 21, 2014 at 6pm with Chaplain Karen Schilling officiating. Visitation will be held from 4pm until the time of service.The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Dubray, Doug Sheppard, Stacy RN, Maggie RN, and all the medical staff at St Clare Hospital for their great care and compassion.
