Mary Skipper


Mary J. Skipper, 86, of Baraboo passed away February 3, 2014 at St. Clare Hospital. Mary was born on June 2, 1927 to Anthony and Anna Schaeffer in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to Clyde "Skip" Skipper on December 14, 1946 in Chicago.Mary was a homemaker most of her life, raising seven children. Mary always had a big heart, a kind word, a quick wit and a hearty laugh. She loved socializing with family and friends, playing cards and listening to country and polka music. She was a lifelong Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, growing up just blocks away from Comiskey Park. Mary's Catholic faith ran deep and she was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph's Church for decades. Mary is survived by her daughters, Sally Cunningham of Crystal Lake, IL, Claudia Skipper of Chicago, Bernadette (Gary) Borkenhagen and Kathy (Tim) Luger of Baraboo; sons, Thomas (Coleen) Skipper and Mark Skipper both of Chicago. Mary is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Skip; son, Paul; sister, Eleanor; and brothers, Tony, Art, Eugene and Richie.A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 am until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic School or Church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
