David Lowell Malchow passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at St. Clare Meadow's. David, son of Harvey and Wanda (Clausen) Malchow was born on September 21, 1943 in Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Carol Rief, though later divorced, they were always important to one another. David worked for the City of Madison's Police Department from 1966 to 1981. He held the rank of a Sergeant. He then worked for the Taylor County Sheriff's Department for 26 years, where he retired from law enforcement. David loved gardening and yard work. He also enjoyed trips to the casino with his friends and sons. He is survived by his children, Adam (Tammy) and Christopher (Andrea); grandchildren, Angela (Evan) Bulla, Sarah (Kyle) Hoefer, and Christopher and Ryan Malchow; 5 brothers, Harvey Lance, Jim, Steve, Mike and Wayne; former wife, Carol Malchow; niece, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; and infant granddaughter, Lexi. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
