Lorraine A. Bates (Cummings), 83, of Sauk City, formerly of Baraboo, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 after a short illness with her family members at her side. She was born July 23, 1930 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Ralph and Effie (Schrivner) Bates. Lorraine was united in marriage to Thomas Cummings on October 1, 1949. Their marriage was blessed with eight children; Michael (Jody), Timothy (Nancy), Pat (Jerry), Pam, David (Lisa), Greg (Angel), Lisa (Dan) and Brian (Julie). She is further survived by 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Being a mother and full time homemaker gave her great happiness and joy. She enjoyed being with her family. Her rural living, just outside of Baraboo, gave her a great appreciation of flowers and birds. She was especially proud of her large collection of cardinals. Her grandchildren brought her lots of smiles and lit up her life. Lorraine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In celebration of her life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baraboo at 11 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 14, 2013. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph School. Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
