George G. Kopecky

George G. Kopecky, age 70, of Baraboo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov 16, 2013. George, the son of George and Dorothy (Albrecht) Kopecky, was born on August 11, 1943 in Baraboo. George worked as a welder and was a member of the Boiler Makers Union #107 from Sept. 1976 until Oct. 2006. He worked with the Boiler Makers for 37 years, until his retirement in 2006; he was very proud to be a member of the Union. In his younger years, George enjoyed racing stock cars. He was an avid NASCAR and Green Bay Packers fan.He is survived by his sisters, Karen (Don) Bader of Lodi, Kathryn Reynolds of Cape Coral, FL; brother, Rodney (Sharon) Kopecky of Baraboo; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended friends from the Boiler Makers as well as other relatives and friends.In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by an infant brother.Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, Nov 21, 2013 at Redlin Funeral Home with Chaplain Shirley Kelter officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov 20, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 10am until the time of services. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be me made to Agrace Hospice.
