Arlene P. Smith

Arlene P. Smith passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo at the age of 92.Arlene, the daughter of the late Albert and Carrie (Leifer) Putz, was born on July 22, 1920 in North Freedom. She was united in marriage to Joseph Smith who preceded her in death in 1985. Arlene had been employed as a secretary at the Baraboo National Bank for 29 years.She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Baraboo Country Club for many years.Arlene is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Les) Nelson of Baraboo; two grandchildren, Pete (Julie) Hewitt of Platteville and Joe (Jamie) Hewitt of Torrance, CA; a great-grandson, Landon Hewitt also of Torrance; two step-grandchildren, Warren (Darla) Nelson of DeSoto, MO and Leslie Packard of Tucson, AZ; several step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents and her husband, Joseph, Arlene was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Okern.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2012 at the Redlin Funeral Home with Pastor Donna Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, and on Tuesday, from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.Arlene was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.
