Myra (Mickey) McGonigle


Myra (Mickey) McGonigle, BarabooMyra (Mickey) McGonigle, 77, of Baraboo, entered eternal life under the care of St. Clare Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in the loving arms of her family. Mickey, born May 5, 1935, in Baraboo, was the daughter of Russell and Ruth (Schneller) McMahon. She married Eugene (Gene/Irish) McGonigle on Sept. 15, 1953.She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gene McGonigle; sons, Robert McGonigle and David (Pam) McGonigle, both of Baraboo. She was the proud grandmother of Brittany, Kristin, and Kayla, all of Baraboo, Danielle of San Diego, CA, Joseph of Phoenix, AZ, and Trevor of Pardeeville. She is also survived by one brother, Wayne McMahon and one nephew, Scott McMahon, both of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; and children, Ruth, Gary and Daniel.Mickey lived her entire life in Baraboo, where she raised her family. For a number of years, she was employed at Francine's Dress Shop and as a hostess at the Farm Kitchen Restaurant. She also served on the St. Clare Hospital Auxiliary Board, where she took particular interest in the hospital gift shop.Mickey was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, where she especially enjoyed working with the ladies of the church on the spring luncheon. Her delicious recipe for chicken salad was especially enjoyed by all those attending.A special thank you to the personnel at St. Clare Hospital, Home Health United, and St. Clare Hospice for their gentle and loving care. The family is grateful for the time, love, and patience shown to Mickey while facing her challenges with cancer. Also a special thank you to the many friends, who shared time with Mickey and her family during this difficult time.The family will receive family and friends at Trinity Episcopal Church in Baraboo on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will take place at 11 a.m. at the church, with burial to follow in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.The Redlin Funeral Home of Baraboo is assisting with arrangements.
