Lola J. DuBois


Lola J. DuBois, nee Von Eitzen, passed away September 17, 2012 at UW Hospital, Madison, after a battle with lung cancer. Lola was born on December 16, 1927 in Baraboo to Helen (Turner) Von Eitzen Sconce and Carson Von Eitzen. She graduated from Baraboo High School in 1945 and from Madison Business College in 1946. In 1950, she married Alwyn D. DuBois in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had two daughters, Marcia and Kristi.Lola worked as a secretary at the Sauk County Welfare Department, W.R. DuBois & Sons, and the Badger Ammunition Plant. Lola and Al moved to Palm Harbor, Florida in 1981 where they spent the winter months. Lola, an avid reader, enjoyed volunteering at the Pinellas Library in Florida for over 20 years.Lola took great pleasure in being a grandmother. She passed her passion for reading on to her granddaughter, Hilary, by spending endless hours reading to her in her younger years. No request for "you read" was ever turned down by Grandma. Throughout Hilary's life, Grandma was one her biggest cheerleaders and she took great pride in the wonderful young lady she has become.Lola is survived by her husband, Alwyn; her daughters, Marcia DuBois of Emeryville, CA and Kristi (Tim Stone) DuBois of Baraboo; her granddaughter, Hilary Stone of Eau Claire, WI; her nephew, Jeff Judson (Lorie Laper) of Pasadena, CA; her brothers-in-law, Lloyd DuBois and Deane (Colleen) DuBois, both of Baraboo, and many good friends in both Wisconsin and Florida.Lola's intelligence, sense of decency and integrity have been an inspiration to her family and friends. Her calm, loving presence will be sorely missed.Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family. As Lola was a life-long dog lover, memorials may be made to the Sauk County Humane Society in her memory (www.saukhumane.org).
