Georgianna "Joy" Luebke


Georgianna "Joy" Luebke passed away on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. She was born on Sept. 10, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Elizabeth Quinn. She graduated high school and worked briefly before marrying Arthur Hughes. They had four children, Art, Judy, Pat, and Mike. After being widowed, Georgianna relocated her family to Baraboo. She later married Marvin Luebke and had two daughters, Chris and Polly.She is survived by her children Judy, Pat, Mike, Chris, and Polly, thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and three nieces.She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her son Art, and her granddaughter Shelly.She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and an active participant. Her volunteerism took many forms from making dounuts to sell after Mass to being a Den Mother, visiting shut-ins in their homes, working the county fair for Right to Life, and making blankets for newborns. She taught religion to Special Ed children for three years. She joined the Legion of Mary in 1969, working closely with the spiritual leader Father Joseph Henry. She worked with the homeless in Chicago and New Orleans with Father Henry and other members of the Legion of Mary. In her later years she assisted in getting residents at St. Clare Meadows to Mass and serving communion.Mom's genuine love for others, her energy, warmth and positive attitude enriched all who knew her. We will deeply miss her, but her loving spirit will live in our hearts forever. We love you Mom, take care.Our family would like to thank the staff at St Clare Meadows for the compassionate care they gave our Mother.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at St Joseph's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass, at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Clare Meadows Care Center.
