Harold L. Meyer


Harold L. Meyer, age 75 of Baraboo, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019. He was born August 19, 1943 to Henry G. and Louise (Heintz) Meyer in North Freedom. He lived in rural Sauk County during his childhood years attending country schools and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1962.He married Kathryn Gilbertson, his high school sweetheart on September 21, 1963. They were blessed with a daughter, Lisa and twin sons, Thomas and Timothy, and celebrated 55 years of marriage.He was employed at Libby/Seneca Foods for 30 years. Was a proud member of the Baraboo Elks club for 51 years, was an avid bowler, loved to hunt, fish, and go camping. He also enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Nascar, and of course the Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. In his retirement he enjoyed car rides throughout our beautiful Sauk County and Devils Lake.He loved working with kids! He volunteered many hours at St. Joseph School. Harold was also a Boy Scout leader and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Sauk County.Harold is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughter, Lisa (Gary) Stolp of Manitowoc; sons, Tom (Tammy) Meyer of Prairie du Sac and Tim (Kim) Meyer of Baraboo; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Kiel, Jacob (Molly) Stolp, Jessica (Nicholas) Meyer, Stephanie (Jon) Goeres, Matthew Meyer and Lauren Meyer.Great Grandpa had an immeasurable love for his great grandchildren, Cora, Audrey, Kian and Jackson. They will miss Papa, his chocolate covered raisins and his $5 bills.He also leaves behind siblings; Betty (Jack) Jensen of Sauk City, Duane Meyer of Burnett, Ilene (Richard) Beckwith of Baraboo. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of lifetime friends, as well as his Welsh Corgi, Annie who was a great companion.A Memorial Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. with Father Jay Poster officiating with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home as well as from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SJS Cancer Fund or St. Joseph's School.
