Donald Jacob “Don” Zimmerly, age 88, of Baraboo, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Our House Assisted Living with his family by his side.
Don was born on June 24, 1937, in Baraboo, to Ernest and Hazel (Bartow) Zimmerly. He attended Baraboo Junior High School. On November 30, 1957, he was united in marriage to Sharon Arlene Remhof at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Baraboo. They shared 63 years together until her passing in 2020.
Don worked for many years as an auto parts salesman, employed at Firestone in Reedsburg, GTC Auto Parts, Federman Auto Parts, and Weaver Auto Parts. He had a strong interest in all things automotive. Don enjoyed sightseeing trips and camping with Sharon. He was also a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children, Melody Powell of Colby, Pat (John) Sloniker of Reedsburg, and Paul Zimmerly of Downing, MO; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; his son, Donald “Butch” Zimmerly; his sister, Marie Severson; and his brothers, Harlan (Alta) Zimmerly and Ed (Marlene) Zimmerly.
Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Baraboo.
