I met John through my high school band director, Ron Smith. John was quiet, kind, and always thoughtful. He surrounded his life with the music he loved. May the choir of angels welcome their newest member.

I was very sad to learn of Johnnie's death. In grade school, we were one big happy family. He was two years older than I am and went to my aunt's church and sang at her funeral. I saw him one last time at the Log Cabin restaurant in Baravoo. He was alone. We talked briefly.

Grateful to have shopped for John for nearly 4 yrs and lucky enough to have visited with him on a few occasions. We chatted about going to college in Michigan & I always felt his love and joy for music. He was always gracious & I will miss our weekly Tuesday phone calls.
