In Loving Memory of Debra Nehring
Debra J. Nehring, age 73, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, surrounded by those she loved most. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose generosity and radiant spirit made an unforgettable impact on all who knew her.
Debbie was born to Duane and Dorothy Johnson on May 31, 1952 in Eau Claire. She graduated from Memorial High School, Class of 1970. Debbie married William “Bill” Nehring, Jr. on Feb 26, 1972 in Eau Claire, WI. Debbie and Bill lived in Wisconsin Dells, where they owned and operated businesses.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Debbie had an adventurous heart and an open-door soul. She was especially fond of traveling, with Scotland holding a special place in her heart. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where the aromas of good food mingled with laughter and storytelling. Debbie had a gift for gathering people, making everyone feel welcome and cherished around her table.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William “Bill”; her children, Stacie (Chris) Tollaksen; William III “Billy” (Megan) Nehring, and Jesse (Peggy) Nehring; grandchildren, Madeline, Isabella, Norah, William IV “Liam”, Henry, Clare and Florence; siblings, Billie (Larry) Voss, Gary (Kathy) Johnson, Craig (Kari) Johnson, and Tim (Tasha) Johnson; nieces, nephews and in laws whom she cherished, and dear friends Deb, Lynne, Buck and Barb.
Her life was a celebration of everyday joys—long talks, warm meals, distant journeys, and shared memories. She was the heart and soul of our family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Knowlton.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on September 27, 2025 at 3pm at The Nehring Farm, S1570A County Road T, Baraboo, WI 53913.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Columbia County Humane Society or Carl W Nelson Animal Shelter in honor of her mourning canine companions Annie and Daisy.
Debbie will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
