Karen Ann Lindsey , Age 81


April 20, 1944 --June 24, 2025

Karen Ann Lindsey was born April 20, 1944 in Waukegan, IL and passed away June 24, 2025 at the age of 81 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo, WI. She was a caring daughter, sister, aunt, friend and mentor to many.

Karen graduated from Brodhead High School in 1962 and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison graduating in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in interior design. After graduating, she taught English in Baden-Baden, Germany for two years. Upon returning to the states, Karen found employment in an engineering firm in Chicago, IL. She started as a materials coordinator and as she became familiar with all of the equipment and specifications, her employer soon had her drafting/designing entire heating and ventilating systems for high rise buildings. Thus began her long career as a mechanical engineer. Karen had many interests: travel, history, politics, current events, genealogy, ecology, books and gardening. She loved animals and had a special pet dog, Coco, for 16 years.

She is survived by Patricia Gardner, sister of Reedsburg, WI; Debra Johnsen (William) Johnsen, sister, of Baraboo, WI and William (Penny) Lindsey, brother of Mercer, WI as well as several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Edna Lindsey and her brother, Michael Lindsey. She was also preceded in death by her biological father, Louis Harding, Geraldine Ostrander, sister, Leslie Johnson, sister and Louis Harding, Jr., brother.

A celebration of life followed by interment will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on West Church Road, Brodhead, WI on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Nature Conservancy or the American Heart Association. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
