Lawrence “Ed” Stabnow, Jr., of North Freedom, died at his home on May 1, 2025.
Ed, son of Lawrence Sr. and Doris (Warne) Stabnow, was born on November 13, 1935, in Baraboo. On July 22, 1961, he married Joan Beahm in Portage and together they shared 36 loving years of marriage until Joan's passing in 1997. Ed dedicated his career to working as a Tool and Die Maker, a profession he took great pride in. He worked for almost 20 years at Kleins and retired from Industrial Coils. In his free time, Ed enjoyed reading until his eyesight got bad. He was very knowledgeable of guns and reloading. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Ed is survived by his children, Michael Haugen of Hales Corners, Shirley (Joe) Chance of Boulder, MT, Walter Stabnow of Plover, Joyce (Steve) Baker of Juneau, AK and Christine (Harley) Adee of Baraboo; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan and brother, Jon.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home in Baraboo with Pastor Jed Crouse officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the National Rifle Association or Boys Town.

My dad was the smartest man I ever new. I loved him for raising me and my brothers and sisters. And for loving my Mother
