Diana Jane Cone , Age 65

May 24, 1959 --March 28, 2025

Our beloved Diana Jane Cone, age 65, of Baraboo, peacefully entered through Heaven’s gates while surrounded by family and friends on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Diana was born in Baraboo, the daughter of Robert and Donna (David) Burgess on May 24, 1959. She was the second oldest in a family of five siblings. Diana graduated from Baraboo High School, Class of 1977. She married the love of her life, Michael J. Cone, on May 5, 1979. Diana graduated from Nursing School in 1988. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse in obstetrics for over 30 years at St. Clare Hospital, where she holds the record of assisting the birth of 835 babies. Diana loved her experiences with her soon-to-be mothers and valued the relationships formed with the families. She also worked as a school nurse for Baraboo School District from 2001 until her retirement in 2018, supporting many of those same young children.

Diana loved being a mother to her daughter, Sacia, and son, Trevor. Even more, she loved being a grandmother to Alivia, Jayce and Eloragh. They gave her so much joy. As a very patient and compassionate woman, she cared greatly for every living thing. By leaving a legacy of kindness and love, we will forever know that she lives in each one of us.

Diana would go out of her way to bring a smile to your face. She spent her whole life focusing on the things she loved most, her family, friends, and of course her animals.  It was so important to her that everyone around her was happy and well taken care of.

Diana is survived by her children, Trevor Cone and Sacia (Robert) Hill; grandchildren, Alivia Cone, Jayce Parker and Eloragh Cone; sisters and brother, Debra David, Daunette (Kerry) Krueger, Dale Burgess, Darla (Jason) Cardarelle; nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Michael, in 2019.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Timothy Kuske officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. as well as at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Butterfield Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with the love of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family which will be passed on to other organizations.

The family would like to thank SSM Hospice and the staff and residents at Greenbriar Senior Living and those that took time to visit in her final days.

As we all grieve the loss of this incredible woman, please remember that she loved you with her whole heart. She was an incredible human being. We are proud to always be able to call this beautiful angel, our mom, mema, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mrs. Cone was such a huge part of my life during high school. Growing up wasn't always the easiest and she always made sure to ask how I was and if there was anything I needed. I wish she knew how much of an impact she had on my life. Something I will forever cherish. My thoughts are with her family & all who knew her.

I don’t know what I would have done without her. I had the pleasure as well of seeing her around the elementary school where my kids attended. I cried on her shoulder more than once. My heartfelt condolences to Diana's children and Family. The Baraboo Community has lost one of their earthly angels. I met Diana for the first time back in 1991 when I was giving birth to my oldest daughter. She was the most genuine, kind, caring and calming person I have ever met. She was an excellent Nurse. I was Blessed to have her at 4 of my 5 daughter's births. Afterwards, I would see her occasionally at the school or around town. She would always greet me with that million-watt smile of hers and a hug. Your presence and Light will forever be missed. Fly high with the Angels, Diana

I was safety director for Kobussen Buses during our contract time in Baraboo. Diana was school nurse and came to a few safety meetings She taught our special education drivers how to care for students with certain medical conditions. She was kind, professional and very comforting to drivers that felt uncomfortable with certain things. She put us at ease and contributed to our success in our sped dept. If Diana could speak now I'm sure she would say she could not have done it all without Nurse Sheri Kujak. My sincere condolences.

My heart is so deeply sad and my sincerest condolences to the family. Diane was my OB nurse in 2010, when I almost died and they had to send me to St. Mary's. She was the absolute sweetest woman and took such good care of me and saved my life because the doctor went into shock and wouldn't move when I was bleeding to death! She got another doctor and got help! I will forever be grateful for her. She saw me months later and hugged me and we cried together. She said she thought I had died because after I was transferred she didn't know if I had made it. She will always be my angel. . May you all have such peace.
