Joseph LeRoy “Joe” Birch, age 86, of Baraboo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Our House Assisted Living in Wisconsin Dells with family by his side.
Joseph, son of Harry and Ruby (Kress) Birch was born on January 9, 1939. On December 9, 1961 he was united in marriage to Carol Elizabeth Ramsey; she preceded him in death on July 6, 2023. He was employed by Traxler’s Road Construction for many years and later retired from DL Gasser Construction in 2004.
Joe loved racing cars at the Dells Motor Speedway. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, and going to the cabin with his brothers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Operating Engineers Local Union 139 and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Survivors include his children, Mikel (Tammy) Birch, Sandy (Bob) Cook, Terry (Brent) Birch-Edwards; grandchildren, Hunter and Bronwynn (Garett Ladwig) Birch, Maverick and Tristen (Sylvia Peterson) Klitzke; great-granddaughter Karsyn Birch; he is further survived by his brother, Jack (Kay) Birch, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; and his brother, David (Ardyth) Birch.
A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. To keep with their wishes, Carol and Joe will be buried together at Rock Hill Cemetery following the service.
