Karen Faye Cook , Age 80


March 03, 1944 --January 16, 2025

Karen Faye Cook, age 80, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo, WI.

Karen was born on March 3, 1944 at S. Mary’s-Ringling Hospital in Baraboo, WI to Theodore Walter Petzke and Helen Elsie Steinke.

Karen married Everett Charles Cook on September 14, 1963 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Freedom, WI. They were married for 60 years until Everett’s passing in 2023.

Karen stayed home to raise the two children she had with Everett, Vicki Hornbeck (Cook) and Randy Cook, after which she worked at Pirate’s Cove in Wisconsin Dells for many years until she retired. Karen enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines and cross stitching in her spare time.

Karen is survived by her two children Vicki (Joe) Hornbeck and Randy (Patti) Cook; grandchildren Ashley (Nathan) Sanner and Elizabeth (Josh) Stewart; five great grandchildren; and brother, Jerry Petzke as well as many other family, friends, and special caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett and her parents, Theodore and Helen Petzke.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at St. Clare Meadows who cared for Karen for many years.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 11 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Baraboo WI. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
