Lucille Mary Gros, age 101, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg, WI.

Lucille was united in marriage to Robert L. Gros prior to WWII. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1997.
Lucille spent most of her career working as a bookkeeper for Nielsen Restaurants in River Forest, IL. In 1964, she and her husband, Robert, purchased their beloved Running-Fox Farm on Happy Hill Road in Sauk County. Lucille found great joy in being surrounded by the natural beauty of the Freedom Township West Bluff and in growing her garden. In particular, she delighted in birding, butterflies, woodland wildflowers, and the subtle signs of an emerging spring.
A lover of music, Lucille as a teen played violin for the Chicago Youth Orchestra. She was also known for her fabulous cooking and baking abilities, always ensuring that everyone around her was well-fed and cared for. During her long life, Lucille pursued many artistic hobbies. Most notably, playing the piano, painting, Danish flower embroidery, and crocheting countless afghan blankets for family and friends.
Lucille was a deeply caring soul, always putting the needs of others before her own. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to the caretaking of her husband, Robert, after he suffered a stroke, navigating the challenges of his recovery with patience and unwavering love. Alongside this, she built a special bond with her granddaughter, Samantha (James) Sprecher, nurturing their relationship with warmth and tenderness. Through it all, Lucille's compassion and strength were the heart of her family, providing support and connection in ways only she could.
Lucille is survived by her 3 children, Robert Gros Jr., April Hromada, and Lise Conway; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.

Keeping you all in my prayers at this time . Lucille sounded like a beautiful lady. It caught my eye in her obit that she lived on Happy Hill. My father was also raised on Happy Hill. The Steinhorst farm with the round barn. I could. See what Lucille would have seen as I read her obituary.. what beautiful legacy to give to you all.
