Hollis W. Thompson, age 82, of Mt. Horeb, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Ingleside Manor with family by his side.
Hollis, son of William and Beulah (Johnson) Thompson was born November 4, 1942 in Lodi, Wisconsin. After graduating Lodi High School in 1960, Hollis went on to the University of Wisconsin receiving his bachelor’s degree and later completing his Juris Doctor in 1972. Hollis enjoyed Chicago Cubs baseball, fishing, music, particularly Bob Dylan and The Beatles, playing guitar and playing games like Scrabble, Sudoku and Words with Friends. He also enjoyed learning his entire life. Through his various careers and love of reading, he was continuously learning from the people around him. His curiosity of knowledge made him drawn to people from other cultures and backgrounds, which led to his social justice and political activism.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Thompson; ex-spouses, Sharon Thompson and Susan Koller; sisters, Sandra and Connie Thompson; brother, Leon (Wendy) Thompson; nephews, Brent, Jeremy, Ben, Matthew, and Will; other extended family members and his dear, lifelong friend, Anne Foltz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beulah, and siblings, Judith and Richard.
A special thanks to the staff of Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb and Agrace Hospice for their care, love and friendship. They were a light in his final years of life and he loved them so very much.
Services and burial will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used in his name at a later date.
