David A. `Dave` Tourdot , Age 71

June 25, 1953 --October 12, 2024

David A. "Dave" Tourdot, age 71, of Baraboo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

David was born on June 25, 1953, the son of Edward and Patricia (Phelps) Tourdot, in Baraboo. He graduated from Baraboo High School in 1971, where he participated in Cross Country and other sports. Dave worked for the prior KFC building downtown and Holiday Wholesale. He then went to work for Sysco in transportation and the coffee/chemical repair department for over 30 years. After retirement from Sysco, he continued to stay busy as a custodian for St. Joseph Catholic School where he was lovingly known as “Mr. Dave”. He was currently employed at Menards and picking Apples at Ski-Hi Fruit Farm.

David loved sports. He enjoyed watching and attending the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and of course the T-Birds games; Uncle Dave was their biggest fan. He could tell you all of the scores and re-cap the plays of the games. Dave also coached the St. Joes Basketball team for many years. He was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved being part of activities at Camp Gray and calling Bingo for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed helping with their Pancake Breakfasts, working the Sauk County Fair Gates, and Road Crew Clean Up. He also enjoyed his time with his St. Joseph Men’s Group. David thoroughly looked forward to going out for breakfast and coffee to socialize with his many friends.

Dave loved the outdoors, especially riding his bike on the 400 trail, hunting at the cabin, picking mushrooms at the farm and walking all around town. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. David just loved people, he always had a positive attitude and would talk your ear off. Family meant everything to him, he was very proud of being a great-grandfather.

David is survived by his children, Shelly (Tom) Keller of Wonewoc and Chad Tourdot of Baraboo; grandchildren, Sierra, Allen and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Carter, Sophia, and Laela.  He is further survived by his siblings, Dennis (Holly) Tourdot, Larry (Michelle) Tourdot, Gwen (Jeff) Kingston, Linda (Todd Meyer) Porter, and Greg (Mary Alice) Tourdot; his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, brother-in-law, Mike Porter and niece, Alicia Tourdot.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Father Paul Ugo Arinze presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave. in Baraboo. Continued visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday at the church. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will follow all services at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family which will be passed on to local organizations.

The family would like to thank everyone that made Dave’s life special with a kind word or a smile.

I was just horrified when I heard that Dave died! Totally shocked! I usually spent the hour in adoration with him on Mondays. He was such a good guy! So kind and helpful. He will be so missed! He was loved by so many! When he was the janitor at our church/school, the kids just flocked to him at recess. He leaves a big hole in our hearts and our community.! His faith was so strong. He was in many of our Bible studies. I am sure he’s resting with Jesus right now! Well done, good and faithful servant.! Our deepest condolences and sympathy!

I lost a brother the other day his memory made me cry, some good, some bad, too many things were left unsaid, before he died. Death will visit us all someday, of that you can be sure, the key is to live each day until God calls you home. See you then Brother As always God Bless
