David `Dave` Robert Jauch , Age 80

April 28, 1944 --August 19, 2024

David “Dave” Robert Jauch, 80, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 19, 2024, following a battle with cancer.

David was born on April 28, 1944, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Christian and Rose (O’Leary) Jauch. In 1952, he and his family moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin, and David graduated from Baraboo High School in 1962. He attended Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan, and graduated in 1964.

David used his engineering skills, becoming an ironworker in Milwaukee. He was proud to be part of the ironworkers group who built Interstate 90 in Wisconsin. David later helped oversee jobs while working for Chilstrom Erecting Corporation.

On March 16, 1968, David married the love of his life, Marjorie “Margie” Bartley. Soon after their wedding, his Army National Guard unit was called up for active duty. To David and Margie’s excitement, she became pregnant before he left for Vietnam. In 1969, he was thrilled to receive pictures of his first child, Andrew, while deployed. Following his discharge from the Army, David returned home to Wisconsin and met his five-month-old son who smiled at his daddy the first time he saw him.

David was a decorated veteran, earning a Bronze Star for helping put out a fire at the 3rd Ordnance Battalion, 29th Group Ammunition Supply Depot in Long Binh, Vietnam.

After returning home, David continued as an ironworker, and he and Margie welcomed two more children, Tiffany in 1970, and Aaron in 1975.

When Margie’s sister, Beverly, passed away in 1976, David and Margie moved their family to Pembroke Pines, Florida, to help care for Margie’s nieces and nephews. David joined his brother-in-law’s underground lawn sprinkler business, then later worked for his friend Joe’s pool maintenance and repair business. He happily retired from full-time employment at the age of 65.

David was a devout Christian and an active member of Christ the Rock Community Church. He was fast friends with everyone he met. David was always smiling and sharing a joke. He found the good in people and never said anything bad about anyone. David was an opera aficionado, action movie buff, ice cream and chocolate connoisseur, avid Packers fan, and cheered on the Dolphins, Panthers, Heat, and Marlins.

David’s family was his life. He was a loving husband and was extremely proud of each of his children, doing anything for them including babysitting their children, helping with home improvement projects, mowing lawns, or making runs to Starbucks. David was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and took special pride in helping chauffeur them to and from their schools, activities, workplaces, or college classes.

David is survived by his loving wife of 56½ years, Margie; children, Andrew (Gayla) Jauch, Tiffany Jauch-Rodriguez, and Aaron (Maria) Jauch; grandchildren, Laura, Christian, Ryan, Shelby, Savannah, Nicholas, Isabella, and Matthew; siblings, Phil Jauch, Dan Jauch (Jane Allen-Jauch), Bob (Allison) Jauch, and Rosie (Randy) Vine; as well as many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Rose Jauch; parents-in-law, Dale and Ann Bartley; sister-in-law, Beverly Bain; sister-in-law, Kathy Jauch; son-in-law, Juan Rodriguez; brother-in-law, Jim Bain; and many aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ the Rock Community Church, 11000 Stirling Road, Cooper City, Florida, 33328, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

Dave was a very special person who spread his good cheer wherever and with who ever he met along the way. I was lucky enough to get to know Dave and his family in the early 90s when his oldest son Andrew and I became good friends. The entire Jauch family welcomed and embraced me with their warmth, generosity, humor, and love. I will always be grateful for the time spent watching Dolphins, Marlins, Panther and UF games at the Juach house and the many holiday meals Dave and his family shared with me. I hope the stories and memories of Dave's great life will bring joy and comfort to his entire family and all of his friends. Rest in peace my friend!
