Joan Faye Coughlin, age 94, of Baraboo passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Joan, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Franzke) Dennis, was born on September 10, 1929 in Baraboo. She was a Baraboo Senior High School graduate, Class of 1947. Joan was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jerry Coughlin, on April 4, 1964; he preceded her in death on August 27, 2018.
Jerry and Joan owned and operated Coughlin Excavating for 35 years. She also was employed by the John I. Hahn Company, Smith Oil Company and Deppe Enterprises.
For the last 30 years, Joan looked forward to her weekly lunches with her daughters and grandchildren. Joan was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and taking care of her grandkids.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Seamus) Geoghegan, Catherine Coughlin, and Colleen (David) Bicknell of all of Baraboo, WI; grandchildren, Paige (David) Young of Baraboo, WI, Claire Bicknell of Charleson, SC, and Jake (Phebe Christen) Bicknell of Baraboo, WI; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Jerry; sisters, Mary (Edward) Gehrke, Kathleen (Jack) Rindfleisch and Eleanor (Arthur) Woodworth; in-laws, Edward (Helen) Coughlin; sister-in-law, Catherine (Mathias) Webster; and her nephew, Robert Woodworth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Luke Powers officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Parish or SJS Cancer Support Team. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Clare Meadows Care Center and Dr. Krszjzaniek for the wonderful care shown to Joan over the years.

I am very sorry to hear of Joan's passing. Her and Jerry were wonderful neighbors to have. Always enjoyed the waves and watching Joan's daughters arrive at the exact same time every week. (Must have been those lunches.) Condolences to her family.
