Theodore Duane `Ted` Meisel

Theodore Duane “Ted” Meisel, age 85, of Baraboo, died on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his loving family.

Ted, son of Theodore and Hazel (Nieman) Meisel was born on July 28, 1939 in Baraboo. He attended and graduated from Baraboo High School, Class of 1957. Ted served his country in the Marine Reserves. On June 6, 1970, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Terry. He met many people through working at Holiday Wholesale in sales for nearly 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the Baraboo Elk’s Club. In his free time, Ted enjoyed his grandchildren and family the most. He also loved nature, especially duck hunting, fishing, and feeding his birds. Ted was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where his singing will be dearly missed. He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed singing ‘Go Cubs Go’.

Ted is survived by children; Julie (Dave) Knudsen, Jason (Erica) Meisel and Jill (Pete) King; grandchildren, Cole and Ben Knudsen, Mia and Audrina King, Gennavive Meisel; sister, Carolyn (Larry) Oetter and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon and his brother, Robert (Bonnie) Meisel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Paul Arinze presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home as well as from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used toward cancer research at The Hormel Institute in Ted’s name.
