Mary E. Beach, age 96, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo with family by her side.
Mary was born on August 11, 1928 to Sherman and Floy Knutson on the family farm in Grant County. She attended the Henry Country School, as did her six sisters and three brothers. At age 16, Mary’s parents retired from farming and moved to Platteville. Mary continued her education as a freshman at PHS. She then met and married her first husband, William Harms. Three children later, Baraboo became their home. Mary then found herself employed at the Baraboo National (now State) Bank. She was determined to get her high school diploma, so proceeded to get her GED. In 1996, after almost 50 years, William passed on. In 2005, she married Roy Beach, who died in 2018.
Survivors include her children, Don (Trish) Harms, Sharon Vogt, Shelley Harms; sister, Donna Christenson; sister-in-law, Judy (Roger) Stephens; grandchildren, Tara Jayroe, Vanessa (Mel) Davila, Valerie (David) Tompkins, Alexandra Hart; six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; four brothers; grandson, Robb and her son-in-law, Gerald Vogt.
Per Mary’s wishes, a private graveside at Walnut Hill Cemetery will be held.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gehin, Autumn Lane in Oak Park (especially Victoria and Cassie), Bristol Hospice (especially Lydia, Ally and Tameka).

Mary was such a wonderful person, I enjoyed every morning, even in her last days, she would say, good morning Tim. Mary and Roy were a blessing to have at Oak Park, they loved everyone and loved to share their love with everyone. My condolences out to the family for the loss of a mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. Mary, rest in peace
