Marcelino `Butch` Perez

Marcelino Perez of Baraboo, Wisconsin - best known by his nickname, “Butch” - passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, June 7th, 2024 at the age of 83. 

Butch, a quiet and soft-spoken man, met the beautiful, blonde love of his life, Mary, and the two were wed in 1978 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Butch not only gained a wife, but an entire family. Mary’s children - Kim, Laura, Geri-Rae, Jason and Justin, now had a new stepdad in their lives, and baby Cristina was born to Butch and Mary in 1979. It was the real-life Brady Bunch! 

For most of his working years, Butch was employed at Glacier Valley Ford in Baraboo as an auto body technician. He spent many, many years getting dusty and dirty, priming and painting. His passion for cars and getting his hands dirty came second only to his love for Mary. And though he worked for a Ford dealership, he will always be a Chevy man. 

In his retirement years, Butch spent much of his time tending to the family home, caring for Mary, watching NASCAR and car restoration shows, and tinkering on his 1951 Chevy 3100 pick up truck. There is nothing he enjoyed more than hopping in that old truck with his “Babe” and going for a long drive through the winding country backroads. 

Butch is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Cristina (Michael) vonSeggern, stepsons Justin (Toni) Acheson and Jason Acheson, stepdaughters Kim Klicko, Laura Acheson and Geri-Rae Herritz, son Frankie Perez, brother Nicholas (Lucy), sisters Nati, Santos, and Maria, and sister-in-law Lola. 

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Leonore, brother David, and his daughter Marijane. 

Family will hold a celebration of life for Marcelino, to be announced at a later date.
