David T. Dregne

David T. Dregne, age 88, of Baraboo (formerly of Reedsburg), passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Meadow Ridge Assisted Living. David, son of Thomas and Katharine (Schmidt) Dregne was born May 6, 1936 in Hillsboro.

He was a graduate of Richland Center High School, Class of 1954, where he was a member of Badger Boys State and was a first chair trumpet player. He furthered his studies at the University of Wisconsin - Madison where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting. While attending UW-Madison he enjoyed being a member of the UW marching band. On Oct. 6, 1955 he enlisted in the US Army and was awarded a good conduct medal and a driver badge with a bar. He proudly served in Germany until he was transferred to the reserves on Sept. 24, 1957 and was honorably discharged on Oct. 5, 1961. David was united in marriage to Donna K. Hanson on June 15, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Richland Center. They were married for 46 years until Donna’s passing in 2004. David worked in the accounting field his entire career for various companies including Collins Radio and Control Data. He retired from Gerber Products (Hankscraft) as a controller. On Nov. 25, 2005 he married Luanne (Unbehaun) Luebke in Baraboo. In his free time, David enjoyed golfing, playing cards and cribbage and was thrilled to get a perfect hand. David had an impressive postmark collection and beer can collection.

He is survived by his wife, Luanne of Excelsior, Minnesota; children, Davonna (Steve) Runde of Verona, Debbie (Kevin) Schell of Baraboo; grandchildren, Nicholas Runde of Portage, Casey (Alyssa) Schell of Baraboo, Amanda (Resat) Yonver of Wisconsin Dells, Jaime (Cameron) Lewis of Evansville as well as great-granddaughter, Layla Schell; stepchildren, Lisa (Randy) LaCombe and Jamin (Gretchen) Luebke, all of Minnesota and their children as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws and his first wife, Donna.

Private family graveside services will be held in Richland Center. If desired, memorials in memory of David may be made to SJS Cancer Support Team, PO Box 213, Baraboo. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mustain and the staff at Meadow Ridge Assisted Living for the care shown to David over the years. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
