Marvin L. `Marv` Vold , Age 88

January 28, 1936 --February 27, 2024

Marvin L. Vold, age 88, of Baraboo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. Clare Hospital with family by his side.

Marv was born January 28, 1936 in Madison, Wisconsin, where he was raised by Matthias and Kathleen Esser. On July 16,1955 he was united in marriage to Nancie Jones at the Presbyterian Church in Baraboo. Marv and Nancie shared 62 beautiful years together and were blessed with five wonderful children. Marvin had a long career in tires; he was first employed by Firestone in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 26 years and when he was offered early retirement, he moved his family to Baraboo where he bought a nice little hobby farm. He was then employed by Skinner Transfer in Reedsburg for over 25 years before deciding to fully retire. Marv enjoyed the outdoors and stayed quite busy in his free time. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing with the boys, and you would often find him in his woodshop in the garage either building something or fixing things around the farm. He enjoyed all the animals on the farm over the years, and always had a beloved dog by his side. In his later years, he really enjoyed watching all the different birds and squirrels that made their way to his feeder and he made sure it was always full so they never went hungry. Marv had many passions in life, he enjoyed being with family and friends, but particularly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His great hugs will be missed by many.

He is survived by his children, Jonnene (Jerry) Cote, David (Christine) Vold, Tamara Bristol, Mikeal (Sharon) Vold, Lynda (David) Brill; nine grandchildren, Kadi (Josh) Centanni, Jared (Oana) Cote, Russell Bristol, Justine (Matt Weiland) Cote, Michelle (Drew) Brinker, Jamie (Kaleb) Becraft, Josh (Kelsy) Brill, Mackenzie (Joy Paulsen) Brill and Samantha (Joshua Miller) Vold; 8 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Austin, Haley, Noah, Brinley, Drayton, Benjamin and Nolan. He is further survived by special friends, Jim (Renee) Teasdale, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Marv was preceded in death by his wife, Nancie; his mother, Kathleen Esser; step-father, Matthias Esser; brothers, Richard Vold and Douglas Hollinsed.

Marv’s presence will be forever missed, but how lucky are we to have loved so much to make saying goodbye so hard.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Mustain and the staff at SSM Health Dean Medical Group, Baraboo for the passionate care you provided Marv over the years, he developed a special bond with many of you and he always enjoyed the friendly banter and special attention you gave him.
