Gregory V. `Greg` Laughnan , Age 77

January 10, 1946 --October 14, 2023

Gregory "Greg" Laughnan, age 77, passed away on Saturday, October 14th, 2023.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was a man who connected deeply with nature and taught his family to appreciate the natural world. He was a man of kindness and integrity, who made everyone feel welcome in his home.

Greg lived his life on his terms and appreciated lifes simplest and sweetest offerings. He was an avid gardener, growing a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, and flowers on his land. With a degree in forestry, he worked as a forester early on in life in California's Plumas National Park. He also served his country during the Vietnam War and maintained a pacifist, humanitarian stance.

Greg enjoyed a life well lived with his wife Galiya and his dog Bubba. He loved to have his family around, delighting in his kids and grandkids.

His family loved him dearly and his kind, gentle and radically-accepting heart shall live on in his kids and grandkids, and in generations to come.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Galiya, and his seven children Emily, Jennifer, Connie, Laura, Gregory, Kimberly and Mubarak and six grandkids, Gregory, Braiden, Sydney, Rafe, Abigail, and Carter, as well as his brother John and his sister Gretchen.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Laughnan, and his mother, Lynette Diehl.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 20th from 4pm to 5pm at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave. in Baraboo. A burial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 24th at 11:00 am at Blackhawk Cemetery.

Condolences to your family on this loss. I remember his kindness and love for his children. So agree of how welcoming and warm he was when I visited his home to hang out with Emily as a teen. Had a chance opportunity to meet up with him in more recent years and he was so glad to relay his love for his family to me. I remember his intelligence and steady spirit. Heidi Brown (Emerson)

I'm so bummed to hear about this. I worked with Greg at Ho Chunk and loved his sense of humor and his kindness. R.I.P Greg
