Everett Charles Cook , Age 84

Everett Charles Cook, age 84, passed away on Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI after complications from a fall.

Everett was born on October 5th, 1939 at St. Mary's - Ringling Hospital in Baraboo, WI to Forrest Stephen Cook and Myrtle E. Cook.

Everett served in the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1962. In 1961 he was assigned to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. Following his military service, Everett married Karen Faye Petzke on September 14th, 1963 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Freedom, WI. Together they had two children Vicki Hornbeck (Cook) and Randy Cook. Everett worked at CO-OP Country Partners in Baraboo for 42 years until their closing in 2005.

In his spare time, Everett enjoyed taking time to watch almost any sport, especially Nascar and football. Everett found joy in collecting toy farm equipment and Budweiser Steins, and spent many weekends traveling to toy shows.

Everett is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Cook; two children Vicki (Joe) Hornbeck and Randy (Patti) Cook; grandchildren Ashley (Nathan) Sanner and Elizabeth (Josh) Stewart; five great grandchildren; siblings Betty Koch, Mary Schell, and Dean Cook as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest and Myrtle Cook; siblings Marcella Schwanz, Arlene Gonzagowski, Franklin Cook, and Donald Cook.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo with Pastor Tim Kuske officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Baraboo WI. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
