Virginia `Ginny` Albrecht , Age 62

May 16, 1960 --February 17, 2023

Virginia "Ginny" Albrecht died unexpectedly at age 62 on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at St. Marys Hospital in Madison with family by her side. Ginny was born on May 16, 1960 to Everett and Eleanor (Shaw) Albrecht. She was raised on a family farm in the Town of Fairfield. Ginny was a graduate of Baraboo High School. She spent most of her employment welcoming and supporting people as a ER unit clerk at St. Clare Hospital. She then worked for San Diego Physicians and Surgeons Hospital as well as Sharp Coronado Hospital before returning to St. Clare. She was a positive, supportive, and dearly loved employee. When not working, she enjoyed golfing, playing softball, volleyball, bowling, pool and watching the Green Bay Packers. Ginny had a special bond with animals, especially her beloved retriever, Baxter. She loved weekly game days with her special longtime friend, Carla Williams. She enjoyed family and holiday get togethers playing games full of laughter and that winning spirit.

She is survived by her sisters, Sandy (Rick) Richards of Merrimac, Eileen (Kim) Fabian-Albrecht of San Diego, CA, Jeanette Parchem of Lake Delton; brothers, Allen (Martha) Albrecht of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, David (Cindy) Albrecht of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Steve (Jodi) Albrecht of Lake Delton and Ted Albrecht of Brandon, FL as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joanne Shirley Tourdot.

It was her wish not to have a funeral but rather a Celebration of Life which will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ER staff of St. Clare Hospital who were her co-workers. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.

My sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Ginny. She was always one of my favorite people who had a gentle and kind soul. No matter what was happening in the ER, or how busy it was, she maintained composure. She had a way with patients which put them at ease, a most important trait when working in that setting! You'll always be remembered, Ginny, and we've all been enriched by your life and friendship! Give Nancy G. a big hug for me.

Ginny, the St. Clare family is grieving on your "way to soon" departure. You will always be one of my favorite co-workers. I will miss our conversations on the Packers and your smile from the ED desk. You were always so generous with time to help others at St. Clare.

Please keep me updated as to the celebration of life, I had the honor of working with Ginny at the St. Clare ER/SSM. We played trivia, traded stocks and formed an instant bond from the day we met! All I had to do was walk through the ER doors and see her smiley face and I knew my 12 hours was going to be ok! Love you Ginny, time stopped when I heard the news!

My sincere condolences, Ginny truly respected those she came in contact with. Not only did she do her job well (with a dear spirit) she lived her life with an endearing charismatic presence. While making rounds at the Hospital, my time was always brightened and my soul encouraged when I would run into Ginny. I will miss her and her intentionality to always hug.

I had the pleasure of working with Ginny for several years in the ED at St Clare. In many ways the ward clerk is the center of a well functioning Emergency Department. They can make or break an ED. Ginny was the best. Efficient at her duties, always accurate and always in a good mood. She knew what I needed before I knew at times and just plain got things done. She made working there fun to boot. She was a co-worker but also a friend. My condolences to her family and friends. I am sure she will be missed but is now in a better place, likely assisting God with his daily duties making him more efficient!

I have tried to think of what to write that would do justice to the person Ginny was and I finally came to the conclusion no words can encapsulate how precious and dear she was to so many people. You had to work hard to earn Ginny's respect and friendship but once you did it never wavered. She is leaving a hole in many of our hearts, but we will always have the memories of the joy she brought us and the moments we shared. I am deeply appreciative of the years I was able to work alongside her and will always remember her fondly and deeply miss her. Ginny if you are able to know our thoughts I just want to say thank you and love you one more time!

As a kid, I spent many hours tagging along with my sister Tresi and her awesome friend, Ginny - watching her play softball and listening to her humorous stories. She had a gift for making people feel special, even at a young age. I’m so glad to have the memories!
