Norma Atkinson Spencer , Age 76

September 11, 1946 --October 17, 2022

Our hearts ache for early Monday evening, October 17th, 2022 we suddenly and unexpectedly lost Norma Atkinson Spencer at 76 years young. Norma was born on September 11, 1946 to Lyle and Dorothy Atkinson. She lived most of her childhood in and around Mauston, WI from which she graduated high school in 1964. That same year, she married the love of her life, Charles Spencer and added a son, Todd Richard. Their daughter, Sarah Melissa, was born three years later.

Norma worked throughout her whole life and was particularly proud of her time working in the Sauk County Child Support Agency and at Foley and Lardner Law where she worked as a legal secretary for a number of years. She retired early from Foley to take on her greatest role that of grandma and full-time nanny to two of her grandchildren. She referred to herself as the house manager because she was so much more than just the nanny. No words can do justice to how blessed we were with that time.

She was the most caring person in this world always doing for others. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and spectacular grandmother! She had twice the energy and get up and go as most her age. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ with every fiber of her being and was a prayer warrior for all those in need. She gave her life to Christ over 50 years ago and never swayed from that belief. She was always gently evangelizing and sharing her love of the Lord. She was friends with everyone that she meant and desperately cared about each and every person. She was the rock that quietly always kept everyone happy and together. The consummate organizer and always the executive secretary no matter what role she was in at the time she was always taking care of all the details.

She loved her time as the Administrative Assistant at Community Christian School of Baraboo where she worked from 2019 2020. Her most recent job was working with the ARDC of Sauk County as the Center Manager in Baraboo for their meals on wheels program. She loved the opportunity to serve the community and particularly enjoyed working with her volunteer drivers.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Spencer; son Todd (Lisa) Spencer; daughter, Sarah (Kobi) Danke; five grandchildren Abby (Adam Stanton), Allyson and Charlie Spencer and Holland and Lily Danke; sisters, Teresa Atkinson and Ginny (Chris) Pedersen; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Dale Nelson; sister-in-law, Judy Spencer and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was intensely proud of the family that she and Chuck built. They all live on 20 acres together, a place that she referred to as her piece of heaven.

The family will be holding a celebration of life for Norma on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022 at Vennebu Hill, 360 County Rd A, Baraboo. Doors will open at 1 pm with the service starting at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, we are sure Norma would request that you do a kindness for someone else. She would also ask you about your salvation. She lived her life personifying Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it. She is rejoicing with her Savior today. All who knew her were better for it, most especially her family. We are grateful that God gave her to us for the 76 years that He did.
