Sandra Lee Sabourin , Age 78

August 13, 1943 --December 27, 2021

Sandra Lee Sabourin, age 78 of Baraboo, passed away peacefully Monday, December 27, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

She was born on August 13, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI to Frank and Loretta (Folz) Kratohvil. She met her lifelong partner and friend, Joseph Sabourin in Milwaukee in 1957. They have remained lifelong best friends. He was at her side when she passed peacefully. She lived in Milwaukee until 1998 when she moved to Baraboo to make her new home to be close to her son and new granddaughter.

Sandy as she loved to be called, was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was in being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being with her grand-daughter, Hannah while she was growing up. She loved a fun family get-together and going on outings with her friends and family for long drives, to the apple orchard in the fall but mostly just being together. Sandy was the family Scrabble shark and could win nearly every match with even the most seasoned Scrabble player using her creative word talent. Sandy loved having her step-grandchildren and great grandchild join her family and thought of them as her own. Sandy also had a great love for animals and loved all the pet visits by Leo and seeing all the kids' pet pictures and videos. Sandy also was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved a good Packer party. She loved reading and cooking when she had been able and loved going to church services especially the Christmas Eve candlelight service at her church.

She is survived by her only son, Claytin (Shelly) Sabourin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her lifelong friend, Joseph Sabourin of Altoona, Florida; five grandchildren, Hannah Sabourin of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Jacob (Callie) Deyo of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Ronan (Jennifer) Deyo of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bethany (Hazel) Deyo of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mariah Deyo of Minneapolis, Minnesota; great-granddaughter, Willow; a sister, Sheila (Cyril) Wisneski of California; and many special relatives and friends, including Mary Ellen Sabourin.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Loretta; a brother, Jimmy Kratohvil; and sisters, Betty Lehn, and Colleen Herman.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation for the loving care that Dr. Randy Krszjzaniek and Dr. Robert Konen have always given Sandy during her time living in Baraboo. The compassion you showed our mother and grandmother will never be forgotten. Also thank you to the staff at Our House Assisted Living and to the Fresenius Dialysis team. You were her family when we were not able to be by her side.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Due to our current Covid-19 pandemic, we are not able to hold a lunch after the service at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at Clay and Shellys home in August. The family is requesting that all attending, please wear a mask to protect all those we love during our time together celebrating Sandy. Memorials may be made to the Sabourin family.
