Christopher David McNabb , Age 44

January 04, 1977 --November 13, 2021

Christopher David McNabb, name meaning beloved bearer of Christ, was born to John C. McNabb and Rikki L. McNabb (Cady) on January 4th, 1977, in Baraboo Wi. He was perfect. He was and always will be immensely treasured.

Christopher was raised by both of his parents, all four of his grandparents and two older brothers in Baraboo where he graduated from High School in 1995. He met and married Shawn McNabb (Froh) in 2015, and on his 39th Birthday they welcomed their beloved son Calvin into the world.

On November 13th, 2021, God decided that he needed Christopher and therefore he passed away without warning after a brief illness. Christophers death has left all his family, friends and everyone that had the privilege of knowing him in absolute turmoil. He had plans of family trips, plans to take his son to Packers games, to ride his motorcycle, to make their home even more amazing, and so many hopes, dreams, and goals for his and his families life.

Christopher poured his heart and soul into his work and being the best daddy possible. All the people Christopher interacted with absolutely admired him. There truly wasnt anything that Christopher couldnt do, he was a genius. Christopher touched everybodys lives and made it a point to make all those he encountered feel important and special. He showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need, and would defend and stand up for his loved ones should the need for it arise. He kept us safe.

Christopher was a curious and mischievous child, which often got him into trouble, especially with his older brothers and their friends - something he never outgrew. His Grandpa Ernie lovingly nicknamed him Stormy. He knew that he was a little different than those around him. He was interested in things most people his age didn't care or know about. In high school, you could find him at a Grateful Dead concert, playing goalie on the hockey team, or building a house. His interests and talents were vast and varied. He was constantly learning new things and refining the things that he knew. One week he was growing peppers and perfecting his salsa recipe and the next he was building a pergola. He never stopped looking for the best way to beatify landscaping or conserve and protect the natural environment of Sauk County. He was a leader, mentor, artist, and tinkered with anything that was of interest to him. He made many friends along the way; he was the kind of person who drew people in. He never lost his spirit and love for life. Anyone who knew Christopher knew that he was the most loving father a son could ask for and the friend you could always count on.

Christopher is survived his son Calvin, wife Shawn, parents John and Rikki, brothers Greg and Jeff, sister Wendy, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and his beloved dog Wally.

To my little brother,

I love you more than words can tell. A piece of my heart will forever be missing. Your love was unconditional, and your hugs could cure all. There will not be a day that goes by that I wont miss you. I'm not sure how to go through life without you, but you were never one to give up and you always put up a fight. That is exactly what we will do. I love you with all my heart always and forever.

"You never said Im leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and none of us knew why. A million times we needed you, a million times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didnt go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home." Author Unknown.

Services for Christopher will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Blake Overlien officiating at Emanuel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Still hard to come to terms that one of the happiest people I’ve ever known in my life is no longer with us. You could be having the worst day possible until you saw Chris & his smile. He’d always put a positive spin on any negative situation. Always made you rethink that bad day by pointing out the good. He always had your back. I’ll never know anyone else as phenomenal of a human as Chris.

To the McNabb family- I am so sorry for your unimaginable loss. I have known Chris almost my whole life, we went to school together from kindergarten to graduation. I can remember in grade school we always called each other when we found out there was a snow day and I can remember calling him the morning East School burnt to tell him the news. He didn’t believe me so we hopped on our bikes and met each other halfway to pedal to school to see the damage. We lived close, but didn’t see each other often. That didn’t matter because when we did he’d greet me with a smile and funny story like a day hadn’t passed since the last time. He always had a cheery wave to me in the pit or on the street, he never forgot an old friend. I remember him telling after Calvin was born that he thought it was the coolest thing they share a birthday. He will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the McNabb family and all of us friends that were so fortunate to have known Chris and to have spent so many lasting memories together. Even going way back as a kid, Chris was always staying busy, and I had the pleasure of being included in that and am forever grateful for that work-ethic mentality. Sports, bikes, flashlight tag...never a dull moment...from sun-up way past sundown. I'll never forget his instant, genuine smile; when his eyes would bugout a bit and he'd give you that look as if to say "good one - I should have thought of that myself!"

While we lost touch for several years, the memories hadn't faded one bit. You were a true scrapper on the ice rink and the playground, always giving me a run for my money. You introduced me to Eddie Murphy Raw, and Mike Tyson on Nintendo, and Insane Clown Posse, amongst other unmentionable discretions. You knew and taught me how to live freely, and I'm sure in your all-too-brief years with Calvin showed him how to live and love life with the same energy. My sincere condolences to your entire family.
