Marilynn Maxine (Brainerd) Simonds

Marilynn Maxine (Brainerd) Simonds, age 96 of Baraboo, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her home.Max- as she was known to everyone, was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin on May 9, 1923 to parents Stanley and Inez (LeHew) Brainerd. The Brainerd family moved to Baraboo before WWII, where her father was one of the first employees at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant.After the war, she married the love of her life, Harold Burr Simonds. They bought a home on the south side of Baraboo where she lived until her death.Max loved to play Scrabble and rarely lost a game. She also loved cats, appreciated a good mystery novel, and was always willing to engage in a political discussion.She is survived by her children, Lisa Simonds (Gary Mason), Kevin Simonds, and Kelley Simonds; grandchildren, Anthony (Nalee) Simonds and Elizabeth Simonds, and their mother, Jane Glynn. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Beverly Simonds; a niece, Frances (Brainerd) Erickson, and a nephew, Jim Brainerd.She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sisters, her husband, her son, Donald; and two nieces, Kristine (Lehman) Pershall and Judith (Brainerd) Elliott.At her request, no service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Sauk County Humane Society.
