Audrey Lamb (Mrs. Arthur W.) Christofersen

Audrey Lamb (Mrs. Arthur W.) Christofersen, of Baraboo, age 93, died on Tuesday, June 4 at St. Clare Meadows where she had been a patient for the last month. She was born October 28, 1925 in Auburn, Maine, daughter to Cecil and Winnifred Lamb.She graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, Maine, and received a MusEd degree from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio where she met her husband Arthur W. Christofersen. After teaching vocal music for a year in Millinocket, Maine, they were married in High Street Congregational Church, Auburn, Maine in a ceremony officiated by the pastor and Rev. Arthur F. Christofersen, father of the groom.After a brief honeymoon in the Lamb camp in Rangeley, Maine, they lived for a year at Chicago Theological Seminary where Arthur completed his MDiv degree and their first child, Lois Marie was born. After graduation, Arthur became Associate Pastor of Mayflower Congregational Church, Detroit, Michigan and Audrey served as Director of the Junior Choir. In Detroit and all subsequent pastorates, Audrey also worked as a substitute music teacher, choir director, accompanist and a private piano teacher. While in Detroit their second child, Arthur Frederick was born.After three years in Detroit, they moved to Sandwich, Illinois where Arthur was a pastor of the Sandwich Congregational Church for eight years. While in Sandwich, their third child, Jon Eric was born.In 1961 Arthur became a pastor of Union Congregational, Moline, Illinois. While in Moline, their fourth child, Scott Howard was born.In 1974, they moved to Arthur's last pastorate in Batavia, Illinois. In 1987, Arthur became Director of Patten House of Glenview, Illinois, a section 8 retirement home for elderly and disabled. While working at this job the family built Audrey and Arthur's retirement home in Reedsburg, Wisconsin on weekends and vacations, with help from a local carpenter and contractor. Arthur retired in 1990 and they moved into their home in Buckhorn Community of 96 home sites around an artificial lake halfway between Reedsburg and Baraboo, Wisconsin.They became active members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Baraboo where they sang in the choir as they both had done since high school days. Audrey continued as a long term member of the P.E.O. sorority, and some time accompanist at which she was very skilled, being an excellent sight reader at the piano.
