LaVerna M. Hackett

LaVerna M. Hackett, age 101 of Baraboo, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. LaVerna, daughter of Ira and Jessie (Davis) Keith was born April 9, 1918 in Reedsburg. She was a graduate of Baraboo High School. LaVerna was a laboratory technician for the Badger Ordnance as well as a clerk at Fletcher's Jewelers. On April 16, 1938 she was united in marriage to Prescott Hackett at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Baraboo; Prescott preceded LaVerna in death on July 22, 1981. In her free time LaVerna volunteered at the Baraboo Food Pantry. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling and gardening. She was a longtime member of the Elk's Auxillary and the First Congregational United Church of Christ.Survivors include her sons, Keith (Pat) Hackett and Robert (Kathy Uptagraw) Hackett; grandchildren, Kevin (Betty) Hackett, Karrie (Mark) Hackett, Gary Hackett, Andrew (Barb) Hackett; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Margaret Heartlein as well as other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Prescott; and her siblings, Roger Keith, Robert Keith, Elsie Gordon and Hazel Garland.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Fauth officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baraboo Food Pantry.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hannah, Dr. Olson and Dr. Krszjzaniek and the staff at St. Clare Meadows for the wonderful care shown to LaVerna.
