Mabel A. Fisk


Mabel Annette Fisk, age 75 of Baraboo, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019. Mabel, the oldest daughter of the late Reverend Kenneth E. and Alma J. Fisk, was born in Chicago, Illinois, December 1, 1943. At the age of five, the family moved to Cushing, Wisconsin, where her father pioneered a church. In 1954, the family moved to Manitowoc, WI, where her father pastored for thirty years.Mabel graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961 and began working at Mirro Aluminum Company where she was employed from 1961-1969. She interrupted that employment in 1962 at which time she enrolled in Chicago Bible College (now Christian Life College) for a year and began studies in the area of children's ministry. Following that year of study, she returned to Manitowoc where she was actively involved in the ministry of her father's church, both in the area of children's ministry and music. She served as a soloist at the church as well as the lead singer in the Community Bible Church trio.In 1969, Mabel began a career in banking. She retired from banking in 2012.Mabel is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Paul G. Chappell, a nephew and his wife, Bradley and Lori Chappell, two grand-nephews, Nicholas and Lucas Chappell, a cousin and her husband, Diana and Bob Zimmerman and their children, Shaun and Kris Zimmerman, Shane and Cindy Zimmerman and Aimee and JD Laster and their respective children.Mabel's love in life has always been to serve the Lord and to use the talents He gave her for His glory. Children were always drawn to Mabel. She loved them and they loved her. God gifted her with a way to communicate with them that uniquely reached the most sensitive ones to the loudest and most boisterous ones. She was creative in her teaching and always caring and compassionate. Her greatest desire was that each child would make Jesus the Lord of his/her life.Over a decade ago, Mabel began attending Walnut Hill Bible Church where she has been involved teaching Sunday School, working with the children in the Awana program, participating in the women's Bible study as well as the Dorcas Quilters ministry.Mabel was a giving person. If someone had a need and she could fill that need, she was there to do it. No task was too big nor too small. She took seriously Jesus' example of being a servant and patterned her life after His.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Walnut Hill Bible Church with Pastor Dave Hutchens officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will take place at Walnut Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Walnut Hill Bible Church Children's Ministry or Dorcas Quilters.The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family."Well done, good and faithful servant.
