Bud lived in Baraboo his entire life and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. He graduated from Baraboo High School in 1944 and soon after was employed at Oscar Mayer in Madison. It was there that he met the adorable Tooley twins who worked in the cafeteria. On June 28, 1947 he married Ardice Tooley at her parent's home in the town of Troy. They were blessed with three children: Kendall, and the twins, Marilyn and Carilyn. In the early years of their marriage Bud worked at the Sauk County Co-Op and then was employed for 30 years at McGann Furniture. In 1953, living on 2nd St in Baraboo, it was a little black and white pony that changed their lives. Bud spent two years looking for a farm to accommodate the children's pony. In 1955, Bud and Ardice bought their farm on County W, which became a life changing decision. In 1962 they started the Double K-D Ranch Campground, which the family still operates.Bud has been a long-time member of Emanuel United Methodist Church, the Baraboo Elks Club, and the esoteric Koshawago Club. Bud is mainly known for his impeccable memory and that he has never met a stranger. He loved to talk and it was important to him to learn everything he could know about anyone he met.
