Shari (Hommel) McKee

Shari (Hommel) McKee, age 87, of Baraboo, passed away at St. Clare Meadows on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 with her children at her side, following a brief illness. Shari was born in La Crosse on November 14th, 1931, the daughter of Mason and Irene Werner. Shari grew up and attended school in Black River Falls WI. She attended Stephens College in Columbia Mo, and received a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education. Shari taught kindergarten and pre-school before becoming a stay at home mom. Shari was married to Dr. William Hommel for 23 years, and together they had 3 children. Shari lived in Sarasota Fl., and Soldiers Grove, WI before returning to Baraboo. Shari has been a resident of St. Clare Meadows for the past 5 years. She truly enjoyed living there and had many friends. Shari was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and never missed watching a game! She also loved playing bingo, getting her hair and nails done, going to exercise, and especially watching old movies and Animal Planet. She will truly be missed.Shari is survived by her 3 children, William H Hommel III, Heidi (John) Traxler, and Holly (Doug) Lindsay, four grandchildren, Justin (Breona) Bennin, Alexa Lindsay, Jedediah and Jameson Traxler. Shari is also survived by her sister Helen Hinke, Minneapolis, MN; brothers, Robert (Patty) Werner, Arizona, and Mark(Lorie) Werner, LaCrosse, WI, and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother in law, Marvin Hinke.We are blessed in knowing that her faith in God allowed her to go in peace.The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Deering , Dr. Rex Flyght, Lori Spencer NP, and especially all the staff at St. Clare Meadows for their exceptional care.
