Harry Satterthwaite


Harry Ernest Satterthwaite, Jr., of Baraboo, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI at the age of 69. His hand was held by longtime friend, Marilyn Stavnaw as he walked through the beautiful gates to heaven. Harry was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Berchy, as well as his mother, Beverly, and father, Harry Satterthwaite, Sr.In 1969 Harry enlisted in the Army where he worked as a transportation specialist. He was stationed in Korea for some time and returned home to Wisconsin. Harry was a traveler who followed his curiosity through several jobs and trips throughout the United States. He enjoyed woodworking, mechanics and creating leather goods. Often you would hear stories of Harry jumping on his motorcycle ( or into one of his many Ford Rangers), finding a family member and traveling for a short visit.He had a strong love for his family spending 40 years with his longtime partner Marilyn. Together they built a wonderful life in Baraboo raising 3 beloved dogs together. As Harry's family grew with nieces and nephews, he was often viewed as the fun Uncle. He loved playing with the kids and lit up when he could spend time with them. He was the first to offer motorcycle rides, help with game of tag or play a joke to get a smile. Not one person will deny, Harry was a loving prankster with a warm smile and the most beautiful blue eyes ya'ed ever see.Harry's wonderful life will always be cherished in the eyes of his family. Marilyn Stavnaw, Baraboo, his longtime partner; siblings Robert & Chris Satterthwaite of Collinsville, IL; Susan & Randy Keoller of Catawisa, MO; Thomas and Gail Satterthwaite of St. Charles, IL; Richard & Tamara Satterthwaite of Cody, WY; Bill & Debbie Satterthwaite of Granite City, IL; Ronald Satterthwaite of Pacific, MO; Melissa Harold of Pacific, MO; and his countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all loved him dearly.A memorial service will be held at Redlin Funeral Home on at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until the time of service. Military rites will be conducted after the service at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the family.
