Evelyn Marie Bogdon Fletcher Rost, age 95, of Portage, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Maplewood Sauk Prairie in Sauk City, Wisconsin.  Evelyn Marie Bogdon was born on April 7, 1930, in Hinsdale, Illinois, to John Joseph Bogdon (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) and Mabel Cecelia Munson Bogdon (Jamestown, New York).  Evelyn grew up in Brookfield, Illinois, with her parents and two sisters, Grace and Jean.  She first married Prescott William George Fletcher, and they lived in Nashville, Tennessee; Hinsdale, Illinois; Aurora, Illinois; and Terre Haute, Indiana. They had three children: Preston, Gregory, and Jon. After a divorce, she later married Fritz (Marion F.)  Rost, and they resided in Terre Haute, Indiana.   Evelyn worked for the State of Indiana, Unemployment Division, as a secretary.  She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed camping, feeding birds, tending the flowers she planted around her home, traveling, bike riding, walking, and volunteering.  She volunteered at Hinsdale Sanitarium as a candy stripper, Fowler Park in their Pioneer Village, the Terre Haute Seventh-day Adventist Church School, and later at Advent Health in Portland, Oregon.  Once retired, Evelyn moved to Gladstone, Oregon, to live with her son, Gregory, and then to Portage, Wisconsin, to be near her son, Jon. For over seven years, Evelyn lived at the Heritage House of Portage and enjoyed their many activities and bus trips.  In later years she discovered the joy of watching and learning about sandhill cranes and was able to view them on the Platte River in Nebraska, and at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mabel Bogdon, her sisters, Grace Britz and Jean Fitch, her first husband, Prescott Fletcher, and her second husband, Fritz (Marion F.) Rost. Also, her sons, Preston Fletcher and Gregory Fletcher.   Evelyn is survived by her son, Jon (Jeannie) Fletcher, Portage, Wisconsin, daughter-in-law, Rose Fletcher (Medford, Oregon), granddaughters, Melinda Fletcher (Colfax, California) and Hannah (Huridis) Fortuna (Medford, Oregon),  great grandsons Josiah and Micah, niece, Sharon Parsons, nephew, Donald (Becky) Fitch, and niece, Karan (David) Lincoln.  The family would like to thank first the Heritage House of Portage for their watchcare of Evelyn for over seven years, and then Maplewood Sauk Prairie, where she was lovingly cared for during the last days of her life, and Agrace Hospice of Columbia/Sauk Counties, for their compassionate care.  A graveside service will be held at Parkholm Cemetery in La Grange Park, Illinois, on Monday, November 24, at 11:00 a.m. Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home of Baraboo is attending to Evelyn’s final arrangements.

Former Neighbor Ossian , Indiana

Evelyn was our very special teacher neighbor! We could count on her to help us whenever we needed help. From babysitting occasionally with our sons to going to their wedding! We moved there in 1976,, when our older son was born! She liked to take walks around our neighborhood! The last few years we were there, she would take our dog Roscoe on her walks! They were really buddies! We both left in 2014! Evelyn moved near Portland, Oregon and we moved close to Ft Wayne, IN! So thankful for the many wonderful memories we have over the years! I know she had much heartache with first Preston and then Greg’s passing! Thankful, she was able to be with Jon and Jeannie, her last few years! Don, Brenda, Don and Ron Bales and family
